From birth to adoption
We take care of your future puppies with care.
Although we are a golden retriever breeder, our dogs are our companions and our friends before being breeders. We love them with all our heart and cherish them every day. Their happiness and comfort is a priority for us. Our females do not have more than one litter per year or two to three litters in their lifetime. They are followed by a veterinarian to ensure their well-being. All our breeding dogs are tested for genetic diseases.
Puppies are born in a calm and cozy environment. To monitor the well-being of our dogs, since their space is separated from the house, we install a "baby cam" to keep an eye on them even at night. This comes in handy close to the female's due date, which keeps us on the lookout. The male and the female have two separate enclosures in an air-conditioned space in the summer (moderately during the first weeks of the puppies) and heated in the winter. Their living space is a safe environment where they sleep and where they eat.
From birth, puppies are closely monitored. They are identified by color then they are weighed every day to ensure that each puppy ingests a sufficient quantity of milk. We pay particular attention to the development of the puppies. They puppies are born blind and deaf.
Between the 10th and 16th day, the puppies open their eyes! But their vision remains crude. It is only at around 35 days that a puppy sees as well as an adult. In the second week, they begin to hear sounds.
From the 3rd week, the nervous system develops allowing them to coordinate their movements and sit up. His body temperature is regulated: he no longer needs to be glued to his mother. The exploration begins. It is then that we gently begin their socialization by following the signs of stress. Little by little, the puppies will meet each member of our family (children, adults and elders) as well as the chickens, the cat and the rabbits. Everyone participates in their socialization. The latter is very, very important and this to avoid inappropriate behavior such as flight or predation due to fear or demonstrations of dominance. The principles that regulate socialization also direct emotional stability through knowledge of the environment.
We let our moms wean the babies themselves when they are ready. Once the weaning is done, the mother and the puppies still remain in the presence.
Between the 6th and 8th week, the first vaccines will be given (DHPP, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza) in addition to the installation of a Trovan microchip provided by the veterinary clinic. Their two doses of dewormers are given (Dolpac 10) spaced out. The veterinarian takes the opportunity to check their state of health.
From the 9th week, the puppies will be able to go to their new family with a starter kit that includes a comforter and a scarf handmade by a member of the La maison bleue family. The scarf and the comforter will have the smell of the mom and will facilitate the transition to the new home of the puppy. The kit also includes a bag of his food to make the food transition as well as his health record to follow up on his vaccines.
That's it! You own your new friend for life!
